Is NBN™ Compulsory in Australia?

The response to the question above is a “Big Yes” but then, let’s get a quick recap of what the nbn™ is.

What Is NBN Co?

Nbn Co is the organization behind the nbn™ network roll-out. They are responsible for delivering bulk access to Telecommunication networks and Internet service providers, selling nbn™ network products for households and businesses.

The nbn™ network is an improvement of Australia’s current telecommunications and internet network, which will impact the vast majority of residents across Australia as it affects our landline telephone and internet connectivity.

NBN™ does not sell directly to the public as it is a wholesale company. That means, to move your services over to the new Australian broadband access network (both home and business services), you will need to contact a phone or internet provider directly and choose a new plan that suits your needs.

A recent survey carried out, confirmed the claims that one out of three Australians have no plans whatsoever in switching to the nbn™ or are not aware of what nbn™ is. This means that they are unaware that their existing internet connections and phones will be disconnected after a while during the existence of nbn™ at their location.

Although nbn™ has already commenced their advertisement on local Television stations on sensitising all on the need to switch to the new Australian broadband access network, the recent survey from a comparison site, finder.com.au, has justified the expense of the public awareness campaign.

When asked how fast they would love to join the nbn™ connectivity network when it becomes available in their area, 17% out of 2004 people who took part in the survey said they would rather not make the switch to nbn™. A further 18% were indecisive as they were unsure of what nbn™ is or what action to take.

Even among those that planned to make a switch, 2% were only willing to make the switch between 18-24 months after it arrived in their area, which would eventually leave them in the dark as nbn™ is dedicated to deactivate existing copper lines within 18 months of when nbn™ becomes available in an area.

The total of 37% who will eventually be cut off if they don’t make a switch to nbn™ according to finder.com.au, is equivalent to 6.6 million Australians. Alex Kidman, the founder of Finder tech, expressed surprise that many people still think the nbn™ is optional.

Conclusion

The nbn™, as the new Australian Broadband Access Network, completely replaces the existing copper network that landline phones and many home broadband connections rely on. Why not find out when you will be disconnected, by contacting FibreMax®.

After several reports from some Australians who said they have been receiving poor network speeds as against what their retailers promised them, faster internet speed provided by nbn™ are, as a matter of fact, a big reason why you should switch to the Network.

“There are those who can’t wait for its arrival, and then close to two fifths haven’t gotten a clue yet,” said Kidman
